The one meal that gets you started for your day ahead is the breakfast. Of late we don’t find time in the mornings, and we end up missing our first meal. Do you eat something in the morning to keep you going through the day?

Breakfast means breaking your fast. When you are not eating for a prolonged period of time, your body goes into a calorie storage mode. Which means the body is preparing for the food scares period. Having breakfast is very essential to manage weight. Make sure you eat breakfast within an hour of waking up. Having something planned for breakfast helps us boost energy levels.

Don’t plan a laborious and intensive dish. And also if you are clear the dish is time-consuming prep and cook in advance. The whole intention here is to make breakfast a long term goal. Creating elaborate meals in the morning for breakfast can be a bit of a rush.

Avoid eating heavy and calorie-dense items that are bound to make you feel hungry soon after eating it. If your mornings are busy, then start looking at options that take little to no prep. An option to consider is a quick bit into veggies or fruits. One more appealing benefit is that breakfast will kick start your metabolism and help in burning more calories throughout the day. One of the essential carbohydrates that are needed for the brain to function is the restoring of glucose levels which breakfast does. Growing children require a lot of energy, For example, boys between 7 and 10 years of age need 1970kcals whereas, girls in the same age group need 1740kcal. Men need 2500 kcal and woman 2000 kcals.

There are a lot of benefits of starting your day with breakfast, studies show that people have lower BMI. People who don’t miss breakfast have higher fiber and calcium intake. They also perform better, in kids they have good memory and are very attentive. It makes them happier and lowers the stress level. They also end up meeting daily recommendations of vegetables and fruits. So it just makes sense, that if you start your day with a healthy breakfast you tend to nibble less on unhealthy snacks. I think it is also an opportunity to eat together as a family. Creating good breakfast habits in childhood and maintaining them throughout growing up may aid in developing healthy eating habits that could last a lifetime.
